Cycle Projects is a New York City-based architecture and design firm that offers a creative and collaborative work environment with a portfolio focused primarily in the hospitality sector. We focus on forward-thinking clients who look to us to help them think outside the box, creating new ways of conceptualizing spaces for innovative business concepts.
Current hospitality projects include hotels, restaurants, and resorts, in addition to high-end residential town homes. We also develop high-end brand concepts and retail spaces, often designing all components down to the fixtures, lighting and furniture design.
We choose projects for their promising design opportunities, and prioritize clients looking for a positive, collaborative experience. We work together to customize all aspects, including space making, millwork, finishes, furniture and lighting, while optimizing functionality.
Our studio-based approach provides staff with the opportunity to participate in many facets of a project as well as managing their own tasks and work load.
Currently, we are seeking to fill the following position for:
The candidate will be responsible for performing both creative and production tasks. Work will include all phases of a project from conception through construction completion. The Project Designer will benefit from a dynamic work environment and challenging project tasks and responsibilities.
Cycle Projects’ design process is to develop a project largely in 3d visualization and workshops with the client. Production is primarily with AutoCAD and sometimes Revit. Management of client meetings, meeting minutes, project schedules, interiors budgets and all deliverables throughout project phases will be key responsibilities.
Experience with AutoCAD is required; Basic proficiency of Rhino and additional Vray is helpful. .
Candidates for this position should have the following qualifications:
· 3-5 years’ professional experience, working full-time in high-end residential, multi-family residential, hospitality or commercial projects, preferably in New York City.
· Bachelors or Masters degree in Interior Design or Architecture
· Strong design, rendering, presentation and communication skills
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and Rhino is required and will be tested.
· Proficiency in Vray, Adobe CS (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), Rhino, Sketchup; 3D Max and Revit a plus
· Excellent Design presentation skills from original concept & space planning to schematic & design development through to CDs & CA.
· Excellent organization and teamwork skills, with strong attention to detail
· Ability to multitask with multiple projects in a fast-paced design environment
· Experience in DD & construction document preparation
· Basic knowledge of current building codes including ADA requirements
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to prepare presentation materials, as well as maintaining a professional demeaner with vendors
· Ability to assist on architectural projects in addition to interior design related tasks
· Be a self-motivated, pro-active, and energetic team member with the ability to meet project timelines and actively add to the design conversation.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate past experience performing the following tasks:
· Preparation of precedent images and concept materials for initial internal and client presentations
· Putting together cohesive, well-conceived design ideas for principal review
· Accurately update drawings in a redline process as directed from a project directors/ principal.
· Production of Interior design presentations including precisely photoshopped rendered interior elevations, plans and details and 2D or 3D drawings in Autocad or Revit is a necessity.
· Communicate with vendors and visit showrooms to source products including materials, plumbing fixtures, appliances, furniture, lighting and fabrics necessary for design presentations
· Basic knowledge in New York design market and vendors.
· Strong knowledge of interior detailing (carpentry, millwork etc.) and furniture fabrication methodologies
· Work directly with senior architectural staff to coordinate interior design vision into working documents.
· Production of material, plumbing, appliance and furniture specifications to be integrated into architectural sets for construction and purchasing.
· Track project tasks for multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced design environment.
